Palliative Nursing Care | What is the ‘Gold Standards Framework’ Accreditation?

The National Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Centre in End of Life Care is the national training and coordinating centre for all GSF programmes, enabling generalist frontline staff to provide a ‘gold’ standard of care for people nearing the end of life.

The GSF has a predominant focus on improving the quality, coordination and organisation of care, which is why at Askham Village Community we are delighted to have received recognition for our palliative nursing care services.

Palliative Nursing Care | Askham Village Community

At Askham Village Community, we provide specialist palliative nursing care and rehabilitation from the very young to the elderly, offering day visits, respite or long-term care, goal-focused rehabilitation, and continuing reablement support.

We’re home to a group of five specialist care homes across Cambridgeshire, and strive to provide excellence across each facility and service.

In line with our ethos, our ultimate goal is to make the whole place feel like a small, friendly community.

Industry Recognition | Our Accreditation

By providing an evidence-based systematic approach, we received a GSF accreditation as our palliative nursing care services consistently aligned with the ambitions of GSF — improving the quality of care for all people nearing the end of life.

We also received specialist training delivered through interactive workshops, distance learning using the GSF Virtual Learning Zone and through supporting training materials customised for teams within the organisations.

Palliative Nursing Care | A Message From Our Registered Manager

Our team here at Askham Village community are delighted to have received GSF accreditation for our provision of palliative nursing care.

Discussing our industry recognition, our Registered Manager at Askham Hall and House, Joanne Monaghan, said: “I am truly humbled to work amongst such a hard-working dedicated team, this achievement is well deserved and serves as the recognition that the care delivered at Askham Hall is nothing short of excellent.

As a team, we all feel immensely privileged to be a part of our resident’s journey. Ensuring their care is person-centred and delivered in the way that they choose is one of the most rewarding things we can achieve.”

Maureen Davis, whose mother was cared for at Askham, added: “There are not enough words to convey how grateful I am for the care mum received and, in particular, during her last days.”

Palliative Nursing Care | A Message From Our Operations Director

Our Operations Director, Aliyyah-Begum Nasser, was also thrilled with the accreditation.

She commented:  “I am incredibly proud of the team at Askham Hall for achieving the Gold Standards Framework. There is something immensely rewarding about providing residents who are approaching the end of life with a truly dignified and person-centred service.

Naturally, this is a very challenging time for friends and family so to know that we are doing everything we can to ensure they remain comfortable is a real privilege.

The outstanding staff at Askham Hall have worked so hard to deliver such a high standard of palliative care and for it to be delivered in such a professional manner is a true testament to each individual.”
