£340 check donation from Tesco’s Kelly in the Community for Askham

We are very pleased to be one of those chosen communities to have received a £340 check donation raised through their community bookstall. In line with their motto is one of the key principles of the care and rehab centre which is community.

Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, our Operations Manager, Mavrick Feast says: “We are extremely grateful to Kelly and Tesco for their generous donation. We have a special relationship with them and we really appreciate all the work they do. This is one of those moments when we are so thankful for being part of a close-knit community. At the core of everything that we do here at Askham is the community feeling and we are very happy to create a community not only inside Askham but also across the large area of Cambridgeshire.”

The founder of the Kelly in the Community initiative, Kelly Riddell, has started to support our care home and rehab centre a year ago and is very happy with everything that has been accomplished so far: “I’ve been supporting Askham for just under a year now and I have loved every minute of it, I have joined forces with Megan from the Activities team and I have really enjoyed bringing our ideas to life to enrich the residents lives. I was so pleased to be able to deliver the cheque from the community book stall and I loved talking to the residents about what they would like to spend the money on. I’m so excited for the events coming up especially the Xmas fayre. It is such a lovely place with a wonderful community atmosphere I look forward to my days there and working together in the future.”

Being part of a supportive community

This meeting was a good opportunity to give thanks and remind everyone of the importance of being part of a supportive community. As the Askham activities team mentioned, the donation will be used on anything the Askham residents feel like spending.

Thinking about the continued support received by Askham from the community, Mavrick adds: “We know we are part of a strong community and this has been visible on different occasions. Askham is very lucky to count on the wider community for all types of activities and events: from local charities coming to visit us regularly to the activities that are so much loved by the wider community and which we continue to organise such as the Summer or Winter Fayres.”

Askham Summer Fayre: the next event dedicated to the wider community

The next event dedicated to the wider community is precisely the Askham Summer Fayre which was postponed from June to August due to bad weather conditions. Whoever would like to enjoy the community feeling on the Askham grounds is invited to join our event on 26th August. The entrance is free. For more details regarding the Askham Summer Fayre, please visit our Facebook page.

Askham is a family-run community that always puts the resident at the heart of its operation. Whether they are visiting for the day, receiving long-term or respite care, or even specialist rehabilitation — each individual can expect a personal experience within a compassionate care environment.

We are always welcoming new residents and staff into its growing community. For further information, please contact 01354 740269 or send us an email at info@askhamvillagecommunity.com.
