Acute & Chronic Cardiac Disease
Coronary heart disease refers to the failure of the coronary circulation to supply adequate circulation to cardiac muscle and surrounding tissue. Angina pectoris (chest pain) and myocardial infarction (heart attack) are symptoms of and conditions caused by coronary heart disease.
Askham Village Community staff are trained to assist residents to manage symptoms of Acute and Chronic Cardiac Disease and to assist with administration of medications, including oxygen therapy when prescribed and to monitor effects. Blood pressure and pulse are recorded at intervals requested by the residents’ General Practitioner and further advice is available via the Cardiac Specialist Nurse Practitioner.
