My name is Rabiyyah Raval. I am a Mother and an Optometrist and I currently run my own business as Director of 2 Optical Practices. After graduating from City University in 2003 with an honours degree in Optometry, I gained a wealth of experience in a number of different optometric environments both here in the UK and abroad in the developing world. During this time, I became a mother and learned the art of raising a child as well as managing a business. In my professional life, my interest lies in children with dyslexia or similar learning difficulty. It started with a Diploma in “School Vision”, studying for which sparked my keen interest in this field. I now work with children and adults who have reading difficulties, using binocular vision assessments and colorimetry to establish treatments to improve reading ability. I also keep up to date with clinical training in other areas of Optometry which enables me to see patients will all kinds of ocular issues. I am a non-Executive Director at Askham Village Community, a specialist care home for adults, and have recently completed a term as Chairperson on the Board of Trustees for the Pinner Centre Pre-School Charity. On a personal level, I sing in an award winning choir and continuously strive to make the perfect curry!
