Meeting Minutes

Notes from recent Relatives meeting held on 21st September 2023: Askham Hall and Askham House

Present:

Faye Dunning, Stacey Peaks, Susan Kightly, Helen Brand

Chaired by: Esther Johnson

Notes:

Esther welcomed everyone to the meeting and gave them a brief outline of herself and what she wants to achieve.

Faye and Stacy introduced themselves.

Esther explained that the team she has created are here to help ensure the smooth running of both House and Hall, and as part of this we would like to hold families meetings quarterly but reassured everyone that we was here and contactable at any time.

Nourish

Esther explained that we use a system called Nourish for our careplans, and said that families are entitled to have access to this and if they would like to have access then to let us know and we can activate their account. This will allow families to view how their relative is when they are unable to visit, they will also be able to see what they have eaten and drank throughout that time. The families will also have access to the care plans written for their loved one.

Managers surgery

Esther explained that along with the quarterly meetings she will be holding a managers surgery for relatives and residents to be able to see her and discuss matters 1:1. These will be held once a week and they will be by appointment only.

Esther will be running a Nurse manager’s surgery every Wednesday, starting from the 15th of November 2023, from 2pm to 4pm. This is to allow families who are unable to attend the usual resident, family meetings we hold. It will allow families time to meet the manager on a 1:1 basis to discuss any concerns, feedback they may have etc. It’s their time with the manager. The sessions will run at half hour interval to allow the manager time to see as many families as possible. The Nurse Manager’s surgery will be held in the main lounge in Askham House and its by appointment only, so we have a structure and everyone who books a slot is guaranteed their half hour time slot. Any question or suggestion please let me know.

AOB

The question was raised about the decoration in Hall, Esther explained that Hall was down for a redecoration but unfortunately we do not have a time frame as of yet, but reassured the meeting that they will be informed as when the dates are available and we will do this with minimal disruption to the residents.

Both Sue and Helen thanked Askham for what they are doing for their loved ones.

Meeting ended.
