At Askham Village Community, we were delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Anniversary in style.

In an effort to celebrate the 70-year anniversary of the Queen’s coronation, we invited our residents to join our British themed party – and, of course, it was laden with suitably themed decorations and a strong sense of patriotism.

The Queen’s Jubilee Anniversary: Celebrating at Askham

Our residents, staff, their families and visitors all enjoyed an afternoon tea and buffet, which included a selection of jubilee-themed sandwiches, scones and cupcakes made by our wonderful team at the in-house café.

Donned in Union Jack hats and glasses, royal masks and even face paint, our residents carried on the celebrations into the following day – where another joyous tea party took place.

The Jubilee Weekend: An Opportunity for Reflection

As we celebrated this momentous occasion, we took it as an opportunity to reflect not only on the Queen’s reign, but how it has also encouraged British people to come together in a celebration of gratitude.

Aliyyah, our Operations Director, commented: “We have always strived to be an inclusive community here at Askham, and what better occasion to bring people together than The Queen’s 70th Jubilee anniversary? We had a joy-filled day with all our amazing staff and residents, demonstrating that those in social care or undergoing specialist rehab are no exception to this national celebration. Seeing the smiles on our residents’ faces was a moment we will all cherish and a memory fitting of such a monumental occasion.

“Our team put in a great deal of effort to make sure the communal spaces were adorned with British themed decorations and there were plenty of scones and tea to go round! It’s safe to say these efforts paid off and we can’t wait for the next royal celebration at Askham Village Community.”
