Between 12th and 19th September, we marked Professional Care Workers’ Week 2025 with a gesture of appreciation for our carers. Our Executive Chef prepared chocolate cherry cakes which were shared across the units, bringing smiles, laughter and a heartfelt message of thanks.

A sweet gesture of thanks

To show our appreciation, our Executive Chef, Tyler Horton, baked eight chocolate cherry cakes, which we delivered across the units as a surprise for our carers. It was a small gesture, but one that carried a big message – a thank you to the people who give so much of themselves every day to support our residents and their families.

The cakes were met with smiles, laughter and plenty of gratitude, reminding us all that little acts of kindness can mean the world.

Reflections from the team

Reflecting on the importance of this week, our Associate Director, Mavrick Leveille, shared:
Professional Care Workers’ Week gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect on the immense contribution that care workers make every single day. Their commitment, skill and compassion are what enable us to create a community where people feel safe, valued and supported. It is important that we continue to recognise and celebrate their work not only during this week but throughout the year.”

The importance of recognition

For us at Askham, showing our carers how valued they are is more than a one-week event. By supporting and celebrating our team, we make sure that residents and families continue to experience the compassionate, professional care that makes our community what it is today.
