Family-run specialist rehabilitation and care group shortlisted for two awards in prestigious Family Business United Awards 2020
A family-run specialist rehabilitation and care group has started the new year with a bang after being shortlisted for two highly sought accolades in the prestigious Family Business United Awards 2020.
Askham Village Community, a family-run group of five specialist rehab centres and care homes on the edge of Doddington, Cambridgeshire, has been shortlisted in the ‘East and East Anglia’ category of the acclaimed awards for both Family Business of the Year and the People’s Choice Awards 2020.
A family-run business of over 30 years, Askham provides specialist care and rehab for the very young to the elderly, offering day visits, respite or long-term care, goal-focused rehabilitation, and continuing reablement support.
The group, which is one of just three businesses representing Cambridgeshire, will now come up against 13 of the region’s elite family-run companies for the coveted accolades.
Aliyyah-Begum Nasser, Director at Askham Village Community, said: “What an honour! Askham has now been in our family for two, almost three generations. My grandfather supported my parents to start the homes back in the 80’s and over the past 30 years my parents have worked tirelessly to develop the business. Organised by Family Business United, the award-winning magazine and resource centre that champions and celebrates the family business sector, the Family Business of the Year 2020 and People’s Choice Award 2020 aim to recognise the diversity, strength and depth of family firms across the UK.
Now in their eighth year, the awards also seek to highlight the contribution that family firms make to the UK economy, with previous winners of East and East Anglia category including Aspall Cyder amongst other industry heavyweights.
An elite judging panel will pick the overall winner of the Family Business of the Year Award, which will be announced at a glitzy awards ceremony at The May Fair Hotel, London, on Thursday, 4th June.
The winner of the People’s Choice Award 2020 will also be announced at the ceremony, but will be decided by a public vote which can be made here.
