Welcome to Food and Fluids Month at Askham!

This is our seventh themed month, Food and Fluids. Here at Askham we know that each member of our staff plays a vital role in supporting people to eat well and to drink plenty of fluids. We are all aware that a sufficient amount of fluids and good nutrition is crucial for maintaining health. That’s why we all work together to support all our residents and staff to have access to fluids, food and nutrition in accordance to each person’s needs. Everyone working with food has a role in food safety and it’s vital to understand that keeping themselves clean and hygienic is key in order to avoid poor nutrition and hydration.

A level of personal cleanliness is always asked for all the members of the staff. The ones working with food must wear the appropriate clothing and protective equipment. Effective handwashing is a must.

In accordance with the General Food Law Regulations 2002 and the Food Hygiene Regulations 2006, Askham Village Community is keen to ensure that food is of good quality, safe to eat, that is stored correctly under the right conditions, that it is cooked at the right temperature and that it hasn’t been handled too much and that it is not contaminated.

Our posters are designed to emphasise key principles when discussing about Food and Fluids.
