At Askham Village Community, our nurses play a vital role in delivering compassionate, expert care to residents and supporting people on their recovery journeys. This International Nurses Day, we took the opportunity to show our appreciation and thank our nursing team for the difference they make every single day.

A thoughtful celebration for our team

On 12th May, our team members were surprised with small tokens of thanks, including gifts, a free lunch, and handmade cards crafted by our residents. These gestures were delivered in person by our Events Coordinators Ella and Kelly, HR Coordinator, Laura, and Associate Director, Mavrick, who were delighted to celebrate the dedication of our nurses.

“Supporting the wellbeing of our team is a key part of what we do,” said Laura, HR Coordinator. “Today was a chance to recognise our nurses and the dedication they show, while also encouraging them to take a moment for themselves.”

It was a moment not only to celebrate achievements but also to support the wellbeing of the individuals behind the uniform.

Recognising our wider community of nurses

We were also proud to show our appreciation to the team at Doddington Medical Centre by dropping off thank-you gifts. As a valued local GP practice, they play an important role in the healthcare journey of many people within our community.

This year, we wanted to extend our gratitude beyond our own walls, acknowledging the contribution of nurses across all care settings, from community services to primary care.

“We’re proud to work alongside so many dedicated professionals, both within Askham and across the wider healthcare network,” said Mavrick, Associate Director. “International Nurses Day is a moment to recognise how deeply nurses impact lives every day.”

A culture of gratitude and care

Nurses at Askham are known not just for their clinical expertise but also for the compassion, patience, and professionalism they bring to every interaction. Whether supporting residents in long-term care or helping individuals progress through rehabilitation, their contribution is invaluable.

While one day of celebration is never enough, it serves as a timely reminder of how much they are valued by both colleagues and the people they care for.

Take a moment to say thank you

We invite everyone to take a moment to thank the nurses in their lives – whether with a kind word, a note of appreciation, or simply a moment of recognition.

Happy International Nurses Day from all of us at Askham Village Community!
