Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting two fundraising events — a Bake Sale and a Bingo Night — and we’re delighted to share that together, we raised an amazing £500 for two brilliant causes.
It’s been such a joy to see the Askham family — team members, relatives, friends, and members of the wider community — come together in support of others. One part of the funds will support our Residents’ Social Fund, which helps us continue offering meaningful activities and events. The other part is going to Little Miracles Chatteris, a local charity that supports families with children who have additional needs, disabilities, and life-limiting conditions.
Sweet treats and big hearts
Our fundraising journey began with a Bake Sale here at Askham. With trays of cakes, muffins, and delicious home-baked goodies prepared by our team and families, the Askham Reception was full of warmth and the smell of freshly baked kindness. It wasn’t just about raising funds — it was a wonderful moment of connection.
As Kelly, one of our Events Coordinators, put it: “The generosity shown has been overwhelming. It’s moments like this that remind us how strong our local community is and how much good we can do when we come together.”

Eyes down for a full house!
Not long after, we took the community spirit out into town with a Bingo Night hosted at The Sportsman in Chatteris. What an evening! With brilliant prizes, lots of laughter, and the room buzzing with energy, we were reminded just how special it is to come together for a good cause.
Ella, who co-organised the event alongside Kelly, said: “We were genuinely touched by the turnout. It wasn’t just about the money raised — it was the warmth in the room, the sense of togetherness, and the shared purpose of doing something good.”
We’d also like to say a big thank you to The Sportsman for generously hosting us and to all the individuals and local businesses who helped make the evening such a success through prize donations and support, including: JP Snooker and Pool Palace, Ozzys Barbers, Hair on the Park, Elizabeth’s Florist, B&R Dining, Kelly in the Community and Tesco, Allied Pharmacy, Greetings Card Shop (March), Boots (March), The Exchange, Smashalicious, Istanbul Barbers (March), March Quality Meats, David Barton Potatoes — and so many others. We’re truly grateful.
What’s next?
We’re so proud of what we’ve achieved together — and this is just the beginning. Our next big community event is the Summer Fayre on Saturday, 2nd August (11am–4pm). We hope you’ll join us for a fantastic day of food, stalls, games and good company!
And if you love a bit of friendly competition, don’t miss our upcoming Trivia Night on Friday, 5th September.
Thank you again to everyone who took part in our fundraising events — we couldn’t do it without you. Here’s to many more occasions that bring us together for good!
