Job description

The Activities Organiser at Askham Village Community is an essential part of the Operations team to ensure the marketing, strategy, activities and wellbeing of residents are supported each day throughout the week. The Activities Organiser will be expected to have an understanding of, and an empathy with the residents of Askham Village Community.

Working with a team of other Activities organizers to ensure that residents needs are met and boundaries of innovation continue to be pushed; the role is always adapting.

 

Main Duties

  1. To plan a month’s activities and discuss with the Operations Manager future planning, clubs and events
  2. To have regular interactions with all residents on a one to one basis in line with resident Care Plans; in the privacy of the residents room where appropriate, and respecting the confidentiality and privacy of these conversations
  3. To organise group activities for those who prefer company such as art classes, films, shows, handicraft groups, quizzes, board games, bingo, entertainment and group outings; in line with resident care plans
  4. To support residents in letter writing, shopping, reading aloud, board games, and assistance with the pursuit of individual hobbies and interests
  5. To organise visits from Ministries of all religious denominations and assisting to arrange transport for those who wish to attend as per their Care Plans
  6. To liaise with catering staff with respect to Birthdays, Christmas and special events
  7. To assist in fundraising activities thereby ensuring financial resources are available to pay for outside entertainment and outings
  8. To maintain records of all funds raised, monies spent, shop sales & stocks
  9. To supervise residents and group activities, having regard for their comfort and safety at all times
  10. To attend training or courses appropriate to activities
  11. To ensure all activities equipment is suitably stored and looked after
  12. To attend staff meetings and appropriate mandatory training
  13. To report any accidents/incidents to the Nurse in Charge immediately
  14. To be aware and keep updated on all home policies and procedures
  15. To assist with other duties as required

    Ability to commute/relocate: March: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
