This weekend, the Askham grounds were transformed into a vibrant, fun-filled space as we hosted our 2025 Summer Fayre – and what a day it was! After weeks of planning and preparation, it was heart-warming to see everything come together so beautifully, with smiles all around and a fantastic turnout from the local community.

A vibrant display of stalls and activities

From the moment the gates opened, there was a real buzz of excitement in the air. Over 40 stalls filled the site, offering everything from handcrafted gifts and jewellery to sweet treats, games, and local produce. It was a brilliant showcase of small businesses, and we were thrilled to see them well supported throughout the day.

The younger visitors were spoilt for choice with five fairground rides, classic games like hook-a-duck, and bouncy castles that kept the laughter going all day long. Doddington Scouts joined us with a fantastic range of outdoor games and challenges that had families entertained from start to finish.

Something for every appetite

Foodies were well looked after too. Freshly made wood-fired pizza from D-Lish Pizza Co and fully loaded wraps from Get Wrapped were crowd favourites, while our on-site café offered warm sausage rolls, cupcakes, and refreshing drinks for visitors to enjoy. It became a perfect spot to relax and take it all in.

Music, smiles, and community spirit

Live performances added that extra sparkle to the day. We welcomed the talented Laura Dennis, whose vocals created a warm and uplifting atmosphere, and The Singing Gardener (Amanda Scott) whose unique energy had everyone smiling and swaying along.

“It’s always a joy to see the grounds come alive like this,” said Ella, one of our Activities Coordinators. “The community spirit was everywhere – from residents enjoying the music, to children playing, and families chatting over coffee. That’s what makes days like this so special.”

A day for everyone

One of the most meaningful aspects of the event was seeing so many of our residents enjoying the Fayre. With the support of our dedicated team, they were able to browse the stalls, enjoy the entertainment, and fully take part in the day’s activities.

We were equally delighted to see our staff and their families joining the fun. The Fayre isn’t just a public event – it’s a moment for the whole Askham community to come together and celebrate the summer.

“Our Summer Fayre is a reflection of everything Askham stands for,” added Associate Director Mavrick Leveille. “It’s about bringing people together, celebrating the lives we touch, and strengthening those everyday connections between our residents, team members, families, and neighbours. We’re incredibly proud of the team who made it all happen.”

Thank you to everyone who made it possible

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success – our volunteers, team members, stallholders, performers, and every single visitor who brought their energy, joy, and support. Your contributions made the day one to remember.

As we pack away the bunting and reflect on a wonderful day, we’re left with a sense of pride, gratitude, and community.
