At Askham Village Community, we’re always looking for ways to improve the quality and consistency of care for our residents. That’s why we’re excited to share some significant news—Askham Place and Askham Court have officially merged under a single Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration. This means that going forward, the combined home will be known as Askham Court.
This merger allows us to deliver even better care and support to our residents across both sites, ensuring a smooth and unified experience from day one. Whether someone is coming for rehabilitation or long-term care, our goal is to make sure that every resident feels at home, supported, and comfortable throughout their journey with us.
Enhancing the care experience at Askham Court
Thanks to recent renovations, Askham Court now features 32 beautifully designed, single-story rooms, each with its own accessible private ensuite and modern features like overhead ceiling hoist tracks. Every room offers private access to our tranquil courtyards and surrounding grounds, creating a peaceful and welcoming environment.
Askham Court is structured to provide both intensive short-stay neurorehabilitation and long-term care. Our short-stay wing offers focused rehabilitation for those recovering from injuries or surgeries, with a strong emphasis on helping residents regain their independence. Meanwhile, the long-term wing provides expert support for individuals living with chronic neurological conditions, neuro-palliative needs, or prolonged disorders of consciousness (PDOC).
This unique setup allows residents to transition smoothly from short-term rehab to long-term support—all within the comfort and familiarity of Askham Court.
A unified approach for better care
The merger of Askham Place and Askham Court means a lot to us. By combining these two homes, we’re enhancing continuity and consistency of care, allowing our residents to be supported by the same dedicated teams and familiar faces. While this is a structural change, there are no changes to the staffing levels or the quality of care our residents and their families have come to expect from us. What it does bring, however, is a more cohesive approach to how we care for and support each individual.
Mavrick Leveille, Associate Director at Askham Village Community, shared:
By uniting Askham Place and Askham Court under one CQC registration, we are ensuring a more unified, consistent care experience for our residents. This merger benefits residents, staff, and families alike while preserving the exceptional standard of care Askham is known for. The expanded wings at Askham Court enable us to serve a wide range of care needs, from short-term neurorehabilitation to long-term support for chronic conditions, ensuring comfort and continuity throughout the rehab pathway.
Better collaboration and integrated care
This merger also brings a new chapter for Askham Rehab, our rehabilitation service. Our residents who are on their rehab journey will benefit from enhanced collaboration between our teams, fostering an integrated approach to care and recovery. At Askham Rehab, our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to delivering personalised, goal-oriented rehabilitation aimed at restoring independence and improving quality of life.
What this means for our residents
For our residents, families, and community, this change is all about creating a more seamless and comfortable experience. We’re here to provide the best possible care environment—one where every individual feels valued, understood, and supported throughout their time with us.
As we continue to evolve to meet the needs of our residents, we remain committed to delivering exceptional care and support. This merger is just one of the many steps we’re taking to ensure that Askham Village Community remains a place where lives are transformed and every person’s journey is cherished.
