Askham Village Community has been shortlisted in five categories at the prestigious Great British Care Awards 2026, recognising excellence across care, rehabilitation, leadership, catering and resident engagement.

The shortlisted categories include the Housing with Care Employer Award, Outreach Community Service Award, Care Home Cook/Chef Award, Frontline Leaders Award and Care Home Activity Organiser Award. The awards ceremony will take place at the Housing with Care Awards at the Hilton Bankside London on 5th June 2026.

 

This recognition reflects Askham’s continued commitment to person-centred care, multidisciplinary collaboration, community engagement and high-quality rehabilitation and care services across the organisation.

Askham Village Community shortlisted for Housing with Care Employer Award

Askham Village Community has been shortlisted for the Housing with Care Employer Award, recognising the organisation’s joined-up approach to care, rehabilitation and supported living.

The nomination reflects Askham’s continued investment in therapeutic environments, staff support and multidisciplinary collaboration across services. Recent developments across Askham have focused on strengthening continuity of care, improving rehabilitation pathways and supporting both residents and staff through carefully planned service improvements.

The recognition also highlights Askham’s commitment to creating supportive working environments where teams are encouraged to collaborate, contribute ideas and continue developing professionally.

Askham Rehab recognised for community engagement and rehabilitation support

Askham Rehab has been shortlisted for the Outreach Community Service Award, recognising its commitment to inclusive rehabilitation and community engagement.

The nomination highlights Askham Rehab’s outpatient services, technology-led engagement, community partnerships and ongoing efforts to help people remain connected to everyday life throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Through outpatient neurorehabilitation, amputee rehabilitation, hydrotherapy and community-focused activities, Askham Rehab continues to support individuals beyond inpatient care while encouraging independence, confidence and social connection.

Tyler Horton shortlisted for The Care Home Cook/Chef Award

Executive Chef Tyler Horton has been shortlisted for The Care Home Cook/Chef Award in recognition of his innovative and inclusive approach to nutrition and dining within care settings.

Working closely with clinical teams and Speech and Language Therapists, Tyler helps ensure meals are not only clinically appropriate and safe, but also dignified, visually appealing and enjoyable for residents with specialist dietary and texture-modified needs.

His work also extends into community engagement and family involvement, helping strengthen understanding around nutrition, modified diets and enjoyable dining experiences within care environments

Bev Contaoi recognised for Frontline Leadership

Bev Contaoi, Lead Nurse at Askham Court, has been shortlisted for The Frontline Leaders Award.

Bev was recognised for her compassionate leadership, commitment to service improvement and ongoing support for both residents and colleagues. Her calm and consistent approach has helped support continuity and stability across services while maintaining high standards of care and team morale.

Her nomination reflects the important role frontline leaders play in shaping positive experiences for residents, families and staff alike.

Kelly Hayes shortlisted for The Care Home Activity Organiser Award

Askham’s commitment to meaningful engagement has also been recognised through Kelly Hayes’ shortlist nomination for The Care Home Activity Organiser Award.

Kelly was recognised for delivering engaging, inclusive and resident-focused activities that help strengthen wellbeing, reduce isolation and encourage connection with the wider community.

Through seasonal events, community partnerships and day-to-day activities, her work helps create opportunities for residents to remain socially active, connected and involved in meaningful experiences.

Recognition across care, rehabilitation and community services

The Great British Care Awards celebrate excellence across the health and social care sector, recognising individuals and organisations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to improving lives through compassionate, innovative and high-quality care.
