Each summer Askham takes part in National Care Home Open Day, which is a UK wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities.

As with previous years we have used the day to have a grand party for our resident’s. This year we choose the Queens 90th Birthday as our theme.   The café area was transformed ready for our street party with very colourful tables laid out from one end to the other, and all of our Homes where majestically decorated throughout. The whole day had a wonderful atmosphere from start to finish and was great fun not only for our resident’s but also for our staff.

In previous year our theme has been ‘Remembering WW1 and not forgetting WW2’ and a Vintage Tea Party; we are still deciding what our theme will be next year.

Askham welcomes visitors any time and day of the week, no need to book, our door is always opened and our kettle always on the boil!
